She dropped, finally showing some manners and sense. Instinctively, Peregrine ceased his attack. It wasn't in his nature to attack a wolf waving the white flag. (Although if she had been inside the territory, it would have been a different story altogether...) Still growling under his breath and glaring, he backed away about two dozen yards. He kept his eye on her, though any effort to move nearer or speak would be met with more savagery. She was an outsider, an onerous one, and he didn't have the patience to deal with her.

Eventually, the Alpha male began pulling back even more, moving closer to the caldera. He kept his jade eyes fixed on her, his posture threatening. As long as she moved further away, Peregrine wouldn't heckle her anymore. Despite himself, he wondered who she was and why she was coming around here barking questions. But he didn't care enough to find out the details. He had painted all wolves from outside his pack with the same brush, which meant that she was a rival not worth the time of day.
