Never in his life had Peregrine attacked the young of his own kind, unless he counted the day when his adult daughter had forced his hand. But this was the moron's spawn (or so he assumed) and there was no easier way to make them pay than to go after their young. It would really prove a point too. He wouldn't have to kill the pup, just hurt him.

While the whelp babbled in French, Peregrine lunged, snapping his jaws in the neighborhood of the cub's left ear. He would tear it to ribbons if he could. Hopefully the pup would prove smarter than the adults around here and flee after that.
