Moonspear Take me home

After only the slightest indication from Finley, Wildfire took off like a rocket. Elwood watched her go, his breath catching in his throat momentarily. She had gotten hurt before while searching for Finley, and the last thing they needed now was for something to happen to the young outrider. He bit his lower lip but forced himself not to worry, placing his trust in Wildfire's abilities as he refocused on Finley.

There was no sense in continuing to move forward; that would just sap the injured Beta's energy while they waited for Wildfire. Elwood's paws came to a halt, but he kept his body leaning against Finley's, supporting her if she chose to keep standing. A long silence stretched between them, and he found that he was having a hard time grasping words. What was there to say?

So instead, he gently and tenderly kissed the side of Finley's muzzle that was still intact. The time passed slowly, but he was relieved when Wildfire returned over an hour later. He shifted just enough to allow Finley to position herself in order to eat, hoping that even a few bites would increase her strength so that they could get her home.
