Soft growls and barks would greet the ears of anyone nearby as he darted at his bone, gnawed it, flung it, pounced it, pawed it and otherwise found a great amount of entertainment in it. His dirty feet, for now, were ignored in the excitement of the moment, but as soon as he paused to catch his breath, his tongue lolling from the side of his slim muzzle, he felt the grit between his toes and his face pinched in disgust.

"I am hating this part," he said to no one, not yet aware that another wolf approaches him. He was quite happy to find the bone, of course, but he despised how his feet were inclined to dig whenever his nose happened upon an interesting scent originating from beneath the dirt. He sat down on his rump and meticulously groomed his paws, removing every last trace of earth.
