A fresh snow had fallen and it crunched underfoot as the Gamma went about his border patrol for the day. He moved anti-clockwise around the perimeter, lifting his leg every now and again—not only to mark effectively, but to proclaim his perceived status. The man so far spent a good deal of time on the borders, had been present for the initiation of many of the new members to the pack, and thought highly of himself. He thought, as well, that the Alphas would agree with his perception of his position. He therefore did not squat, as befit the status of a subordinate, but hiked his leg as though he was a leader, a position that had begun to solidify in his mind.

Determined to remain a most beneficial member of the pack, the drifter continued his patrols. He was timely and efficient. Of course, he couldn't be everywhere at once, so when he first caught sight of the brown-and-white wolf ahead, he was apprehensive and his hackles rippled defensively, for it was one he had never seen before. It was only when he came in range of scent that he relaxed, for Taggarik's was wound in with the woman's own. A testament to his inability to be everywhere: this female had been taken in without his intervention or knowledge.

He waved his tail high over his rump as he approached, continuing to run with his perceived status. He craned his neck a little to lift his muzzle to acknowledge his higher rank, and now it was Khetiquet to either accept or dispute it, though he wouldn't stand much for dispute; he could tell from here she was young as Kesan, perhaps even younger, and he already struggled with respecting any yearling, even the one above him. Kesan's gender was the only reason Farstep showed her her due respect as Beta female. Khetiquet would similarly get less dominance from Farstep, being female, but she wasn't about to get the respect he showed to Kesan.
Formerly Farstep. Name changed to suit the fact that he has no known name.
