Chaska had woken in the middle of the night, for they had returned. The memories he dreaded. Screams and howls of fear and death. Pain tearing into his right foreleg. Everything was just as he remembered. And that same maniacal laugh as he had been forced to watch it all. Forcefully eating dirt. Only his father had managed to save him that day, sacrificing himself. He was the last of his line. Last of his kin. It had scarred him for life. Mentally, physically and emotionally.

To clear his head, he decided to give his face a wash. The cold water might bring some sense to him, and give him something else to worry about. Like the chill he would feel. He headed to the closest area for water, and when he found it, dipped his head in. All he could hear was crickets, running water and..crying. Looking up, he was surprised at who he saw. Though he knew the look. It was the same look he always had for at least a month after everything happened. Before he came to acceptance.

"Nightmares?" he asked across to her, eyeing her with his nose close to the water's surface, before he took another dip. Really it was quite refreshing for him, despite the cold.
