As of late, Reek typically spent most of his time on the borders. Tending to the scent markers and keeping intruders at bay were just a part of the day to day work-grind. It was a good thing, really. This near constant work did not allow his mind the breadth to wander and take him, hand in hand, down familiar avenues of grief. There, here could wrap himself in his own emotional cocoon and feel normal again.

A howl on the border, south of where he was stationed, immediately caught Reeks attention. He turned around and backtracked to meet it's source. Reek was in no hurry, and soon, a second howl graced his ear. He soon found the stranger takeing shelter underneath a rocky outcropping, partially obscured by the falling snow. "You're not a patient one are you?" Reek asked, taking note of the strangers second howl.
