Totoka River let it spill quietly from your hands

The others words gave her pause. What would she gain from this? She might be worse off, and what was the point of fighting when there was nothing to gain? She was in no state to be throwing herself at others in such a way, but then, why not? 

She was able to come up with one reason: the woman who saved her, her paler-than-she lover. So Wednesday relented, though her visage did not give way to her anxieties of becoming injured. Her self-preservation came and went. No telling if it would leave her again. 

He's with me, she corrected, her one ear left flattening at the others snarl. He told me about you. The black and white bitch he couldn't get out of his head. There's a reward out for you, Wednesday tilted her head at the other, but for the moment stayed put. This put her correction in a strange light–but she never was one for thinking ahead.
