At the first sign of the locust invasion, Mitanni had sought shelter. The bugs, in such numerous quantities, made her skin crawl, and getting out and away from the swarm had been her first priority. She'd taken shelter in her den, wishing she'd had the forethought to seek out their healer's den instead for its added space and water source, but managed to wait out the worst of the damange inside her own personal accommodations.
It was the howl from her leader, once everything sounded calm and quiet outside, that drew the little brown wolf from her hiding spot. She expected to see a change, but was unprepared for the extensive damage that had been done in the wake of the traveling swarm. Her amber eyes stared wide with awe as she distractedly traveled to meet with her pack, delaying her arrival by trying to avoid stepping on as many of the bugs as she could. Eventually she had to give up, and disgustedly hurried across them to make up lost time.
By the time she reached the pack gathering, most of her pack mates were already there, standing or sitting around the log on which their leader waited. The eeriness of the wood was somewhat worsened by the devastation done to the forest, but being around the other wolves soothed some of that nervousness. She approached the group, scanning among them, and quietly, maybe a little anxiously, took a seat among them to focus her attention on her...larger-than-usual leader and hear what they would do.
