It was early morning when Odie awoke.  For about an hour Odette just stayed quietly in the den, keeping to herself and her Father.  She wished that she could have been a better daughter, because apparently she had failed him from her perspective.  If only she had been... braver... less timid... more outgoing.  Then maybe she wouldn't have been left behind.

Careful not to wake up anyone else who slept in the den, Odette slipped out carefully and quietly into first light.  Then after padding fifteen feet away from the den, to give her a little space from that place, Odette sat and just stared into the distance thinking of everything that she should have and could have done.
