Damien saw the hound's claws dig on earth as he seemed to prepare for the chase, but that was not the intention. Damien could not kill off the first deer he'd seen in over a month, and wanted to see if it had brought a herd back home. That would be satisfying to see, and would mean that the end of their hunger was near.

Shaking his head surely wouldn't be enough for Scamp to understand what Damien wanted, so Damien let out a strong "Track" with the hope that the hound would learn yet another command, and then proceeded to sniff around searching for a trail.
