Ezekiel confessed that he didn’t really hang out with much of the pack, something Steady had suspected, but not had confirmed until now. He knew his friend was more of the loner type, but seemed to make an excellent guardian to their pack, and Steady had no doubt he could count on the other male in times of need.


He spoke specifically of Niita, and Steady cocked his head a little to the side in thought. His intention had always been to bring Niita by his side as Alpha, but he didn’t feel it would be right to do that, knowing she hadn’t been with the pack that long. He wanted them to feel it was because she was a good leader, on top of being his mate. The friction it might cause to do it suddenly worried him. Beta might be a stepping stone, but there was something that held him back from that.


He didn’t suppose he was surprised that Ezekiel mentioned himself for Beta, though he didn’t do so in a cocky, or entitled sort of way. You realize it would mean managing the wolves directly more than you have to now? He felt the need to point that out, wondering if Ezekiel might feel overwhelmed at the prospect of having to interact a bit more with the pack.
