Shrike didn't really expect for her to say that he had nothing; he didn't feel as though he was missing anything because he'd never really wanted anything else, at least, not yet. So she seemed to speak more for herself than anything when she said she had everything and nothing. "What else would you want?" He asked, then. He already knew his own answer- and that answer was a fairly whole-hearted nothing, given that it had never occurred to him how happy he might be if he did have a mate and pups. He supposed, shortly after he'd asked, that she'd want a mate, and felt somewhat ashamed of asking, so he apologized. "Sorry. Shouldn'a asked." 

She spoke then of her unborn children and a concerned frown tugged at the corners of his mouth. She seemed to be looking on the bright side of everything, but didn't she have her fears? "You...Gonna be alright?" He asked cautiously, not sure if that question would finally break through what he perceived to be her defences, or if she was actually being honest and optimistic all along.
