While stoical, the man’s features softened as the girl came from the den, her eyes cast upon him. The intrigue a puppy brought was a natural remedy for the stern beast, and at her nervous greeting, the wolf bowed his muzzle slightly, hoping to ease her. “Hi,” he returned, feeling all the more awkward as he was prone to be around pups that were not his own.
“How are you feeling?” His tone was a gentle rumble, and his eyes drifted back to the den, waiting for the appearance of his mate as he made to coax some information from the girl. She seemed to be doing better – the damage Marbas had inflicted upon her physically was healing nicely, but he could not speak for the introverted shyness that practically emanated from her. Whether she was a shy creature before, or if the man had shaken her completely he was unsure. He could only imagine the latter.
“I want to find your home, Lucy. Your family. Don’t you miss them?”
