Few months ago Pump had had an encounter with a porcupine that hadn't ended well. She had got stung and only because there had been Pied to help out at the time, the wolf-dog was alive and well, even though the healing process had hurt as hell. She had learned from this experience and never tried to approach these creatures ever again.
There weren't many in Horizon ridge, therefore it was quite a coincidence that one evening while walking along the borders, she got to meet one. It was perched up in a tree, sitting on the branch, like an oddly shaped cushion, covered in needles. Pump craned her neck to have a better look at it and at the same time took some steps back to be in a safe distance away from the creature.
The pain caused by the quills, which had been embedded in her muzzle, was still in a vivid memory and it was an experience the wolf-dog didn't desire to repeat.
