Sun Mote Copse Broken

They were alone once more. The girl felt much more at ease without the invaders, and slept soundly. Her mother's disappearance went unnoticed, and still she slept, until a distant anguished howl had her wake quickly and rather ungracefully, lurching up ungainly, ears pricked and eyes darting around the den. She was still, heart hammering a few moments, until movement before the den some time later and a howl she identified as her mother's rung out once more. 

She moved toward her mother quickly, pressing against her side, and eyeing the male that had approached with uncertainty. Softly, she questioned, "ma?", her optics flicking from her mother to the male, wondering what the angry sound had been and why there was another here. There was a cold in the air that seemed to cut through her thin puppy fur and creep down her spine, and with a shiver she pressed further against the woman's side.
