A voice that had never before filled his ears was heard, encouraging him to look towards the owner. He kept his ears back, uncertain and knowing not whether the stranger was to be trusted. Hvit stared at the woman for as long as he was able, having glanced away only twice—once to look at Seff, and then again to look at his sister. He followed the voices, directing his attention towards the wolf speaking each time a response was given. Rather than weighing in on the conversation, he, of course, kept his mouth shut and simply observed. Wherever Freyja went, he would follow, which he’d intended to make clear by shifting closer to her.
She swept in and stole the flame,
