Duskfire Glacier bleak

Hawthorn smiled in response, a gleam entering his bright blue eyes. "For now, maybe," he said with a soft laugh, "You'll grow stronger, I'm sure. Maybe stronger than me," a curious look flitted over his countenance for the briefest of moments before vanishing into nothingness. "One day, I promise, you'll be the one pinning me down, rather than the other way around," Hawthorn chuckled, blissfully unaware of the other meaning that his words might've conveyed, if the two of them were older and more mature.

For now, however, it was time for them to enjoy the remains of their childhood, because little did both of them know that this sliver of peace was about to vanish once more, leaving the two of them stranded once more. 

Hawthorn smirked. "Race you back to the cavern!" he called, then without waiting for the smaller boy, he began running, a grin on his face and lights in his eyes.
