He glanced over her shoulder, hoping to see his mate in the distance, but shifted his gaze back to his goddaughter's face when there was no sign of Finley.

"It's Eljay," he said, accompanying his speech with his eldest son's name sign. That was the extent of his attempts to speak in her preferred method of communication; he was too flustered to remember the few signs that he knew. "I haven't been able to find him -- but it smells like he left the territory. That's not like him," he added worriedly.
