Kavrak was unaware of the younger brother's plan. Anuniaq led them and that was undisputed, but the dark wolf said little and less of his particular plan. It nettled her to not know whether they were staying or not. She was an impatient creature who liked swift, decisive action. If he liked the mountain, why did he not mark it? If he didn't like the mountain, why were they still here?
He and Kuasak were like-minded, she thought as she descended into a glade at the mountain's base. They needed to scout out every inch of a place before making their final decision. Kavrak was much quicker than that to choose. If it was up to her, she would not have chosen this mountain. Too tall. Difficult to traverse even for the most surefooted and difficult to fight on and defend as a result. Tartok was all about challenges, but there was always a point where a challenge became a hindrance. But the decision was Anuniaq's, and she could but wait for word and make herself useful in the meantime. She descended into the glade, determined to track down another food source besides the herd.
As she came across the elder brother's scent, she came to know that he was quicker, too. With a half hidden smirk, the Anneriwok picked up her pace. She inhaled deeply as she went, catching every smell of deer imaginable, and a variety of other critters, too. Well populated. A veritable feast in the bushes. Primarily, though, she noted Kaertok's musk, and began to creep after him with silent steps. A test of her abilities, and of his.
