Nikai listened and nodded as his mother explained. He looked a little disappointed to find out that males couldn't have pups but maybe that's why they often teamed up with girls, Nikai thought, like Valette and Steady, so they still had someone who could make pups.

Ezekiel chipped in referring to Valette smelling nice, but Nikai didn't remember it at all, either because she wasn't interesting to him, because he wasn't mature enough yet, or because he had been out travelling. Nikai wasn't sure which was the reason but he shook his head to answer the question. "I don't remember that." He wondered what the heat moment meant, what it did. "So what happens next?"
