Ten days had never seemed like such a long time as it did now, but Nikai knew it'd be over before he knew it. He would just make sure to keep taking care of Valette and bring her enough food when others couldn't. Before he knew it, he'd surely be playing with his baby siblings.

Valette's next question came as a surprise to him. To be honest, he didn't remember a lot from when he was young, but he did remember having a mother. "Not really," he said. It felt weird calling her that, but he couldn't find a different word in the one second pause.
