Some options quickly passed in his mind while he tried to think of what to do — climb a mountain, wait 'til dark and watch fireflies, hunt together, go to the ocean — before she asked him what he had in mind with an adorable look on her face.

Like a roulette wheel in his mind he just said the first thing that came to mind (or rather the last thing he'd thought of when trying to think of good ideas on what to do) — "Have you ever been to the ocean?"
