though her garden was doing surprisingly well for the winter weather, portia did not have everything she could've possibly needed. and though she preferred to stay closer to the center of the territory-- her desire to travel long ago dissipating-- sometimes the borders were the best place to search for stragglers, so that's what she was doing today.

to say that portia thought about hvitserk often was a stretch. the first month or so after he'd disappeared, the at the time skayona had constantly worried. she worried for his safety and wellbeing, for one, but she worried too that she'd never see him again. the laws of drageda, she knew, were strict, and she could only wonder how much tolerance the commander would have for pups who flew the nest. but it'd been ages since he'd disappeared, and by now the boy rarely crossed her mind.
