Frowning thoughtfully, the ghostly figure swished his tail once and turned his eyes from the girl. “I didn't have much of a choice. Me father took me and me sister when we were just little things,” he explained to her. For a moment, Smokestep stiffened at the thought of having been pulled from his home, but he forced his shoulders to shrug and cast his bi-colored optics back to the stranger.

He had been pulled from the black rock so that he might learn the meaning of founding his own claim and fighting for it. Skellige had taught him many things, but the most valuable was what his blood meant. Smokestep may have carried the name of a pirate, but he would never forget his roots.
