He was mad because he cared; cared so much for the other too that the thought of them getting hurt anymore filled him with even more rage. The idea of losing Korei or Alarian was far too heartbreaking to even consider, but to lose them over something so stupid would only make matters worse. Already, he’d spend time pondering how he could’ve just done things right, when the cougar attacked he could’ve forced Korei to run, when the white stranger did he could’ve ripped out his throat but he didn’t- or couldn’t. Maybe he wasn’t meant to protect them, perhaps he was useless and only talked too often or sang more than enough.
