Twisted Slough Into terror, into valor

Gannet knew what the Moonspear wolves thought, and that their views of Screech and the other Redhawks wildly differed from Gannet's own. When he had joined them, it had been with the understanding that the decision was his.... he'd assumed that being a part of them, and separate from his birth family, would mean they kept away from them and conflict wouldn't occur. Maybe that was naive, but it was what he had expected.

Hearing that they had tracked Screech down, attacking him well away from the mountain (and not in defense of it) struck Gannet in the hollow of his gut, and it showed clearly.

"Why would they care about the Caldera?" He asked quietly, frowning. Why would they mind if he went home.... it wasn't their home? The news that his family was alive and well.... simply moved.... was glad indeed! But it was overshadowed by a sick sort of feeling that Gannet couldn't put a paw on.

"Yeah." They were, sorta. He didn't know if they viewed him as family, though, especially after this conversation. "They are." He looked down. "They didn't want me back. Not really. Hydra did." They hadn't come for him, not until he was already healed, and by that time it was too late. He'd promised to stay. He didn't regret his decision, but seeing Screech's face, and knowing Hydra had done that to his brother, had him shaken.
