The only wolves that Wisp tolerated holding and touching her so much were mother and father. Even Remi, her most sensitive sibling who was always looking to connect and understand, didn't get to offer so much physical contact without causing her to fret. Breaking her leg had made her more susceptible to seeking physical comfort, but only just; she still had a short fuse for it, so even Rannoch's ministrations in the silent den were getting to be too much for the black-striped babe.

She fussed in his grip, just a little, just a warning that she was growing uncomfortable with being confined between his paws. The makeshift cast on her leg bothered her, too, and she reached her flat muzzle over to try to chew on the reeds wrapped around it.
