Blackfeather Woods us and them

Moorhen did not fear the dark woods, but she was acutely aware of her companions' mood. The Shadow had grown more and more fretful as they drew nearer, and Maegi had remained uncertain and aloof throughout the trip. Venninne, at least, was a wolf she could count on. It was hers and Venninne's duty to return the Aralez to safety.

She wished they would be ferrying the pale girl back to the island as well.

But they would be leaving her here. Moorhen let out a tiny breath of some unnameable emotion and stood tall over the Aralez, just behind their young charge. Whatever happened, Moorhen would be ready for it.
