She seemed quite gracious and forgiving of his lapses, at least. Maybe he should cultivate an aloof, mysterious persona who spoke only rarely, if ever; a cloaked and distant wolf who stood loftily apart from the rest and appeared and disappeared like smoke, a ninja whom no other wolf could ever pin down.

Eh, he'd never be able to make such a thing stick. Such artifice was rather beyond the talents of Driftwood, especially when merely managing a non-awkward conversation with a stranger always seemed to prove such a task. Where are you from? he thought to ask as something of an afterthought.
