@Iseabail so sorry for the wait!
The shadowrunner studied her quietly, contemplative as she responded in turn the tongue of his father. He could not keep the flicker of surprise within his burnt gaze, and was about to comment again, seeing what more of the older language he could draw from her when the familiar scent of Aria sidled up toward them. He heard her gentle strides, halting behind him, and his ear gave a twitch of recognition to her presence. The girl before him was perhaps the most promising new face they had seen since their arrival to the valley north-east of the mountains. Her beauty was not missed – but more importantly, the air in which she held herself was what intrigued him. She did not seem old, but she seemed more mature than the yearlings he had been in company with over time.
“You speak the old tongue,” he commented, his voice revealing his surprise. His muzzle tilted lightly, his eyes sweeping over the carcass she had brought with her. “Your gift is appreciated. We have many young mouths to feed,” he offered as insight, the corner of his inked lips quirking up in a small smile. Next breeding season would be different – of that, he was sure.
“My name is Constantine, and this is Aria,” his muzzle swept back now, his eyes locking to the pale gaze of the ivory January, holding it for only a moment before swinging back to their company. “This is Swiftcurrent Creek. If you are loyal, work hard and are seeking a pack in which to call family, then there is room for you.” He paused, releasing a low chuff as he considered his next words. “We have had many wolves come and go rather flippantly. We don’t take kindly to wolves who disappear without word.”
all you have is your fire
