Thanks for starting! <3
His roving heart carried him Westward, along the coast where the ground turned to sand and opened to an expanse just as daunting, and no less dangerous than the desert, but oh, so different than the russet heat of the South. Even after running along the ocean for the past seven days, Zac still found his gaze tracking outward in awe. How could there even be so much water in one place at once! As far as the horizon stretched, and farther still, the ocean pulsed with a life he didn't wish to meddle with, and he still couldn't see the end of it, even when he strained his neck and squinted. In the sky above, seabirds circled with the mighty clouds, which only moments ago had sung with the colours of the stormy sun, and now sank in similar hue to the darkness of the night.
Rain was coming. The desert dweller breathed and exhaled, and struggled to look away, even as he turned inward toward the mainland, where he hoped to find better shelter for the night. He could not see the stars - the brooding storm blocked their light from sight - but even looking outward to the shadowed woods, he marvelled at what a place this Northern land was! So different from the red-touched stones of the Canyon... and often he caught himself thinking of the boys, surmising how one or the other would like this thing or that, and just... wondering how they were doing - how Gideon was doing.
Zac paused along the riverside where the stream dipped to a shallow, and reached out a paw to test the waters. The boys of the Canyon were in more than capable hands; he'd made sure of that before he'd left. They were where they needed to be, and so was he - and with that being that, Zac sunk into the chilly water and sloshed his way across.
