Blackfeather Woods phantom of borrowed life

From the look on her face the spirit could see that she had this wolf right where she wanted her. The ghost child grinned broadly in a sinister way as every word she had just spoken was pulled into question. "The night mother created us," she repeated, though giving no answers. "She created us and she guides us." The spirit child wandered closer to the dancing spirits up ahead, closer to the other wolf, the scaredy cat.

Then, as she was close to the other wolf, her pale fur and haunting eyes illuminated by the spirits, she stopped in her tracks. The pale child turned her head towards the other and wondered out loud, all impish expression suddenly fallen from her face which fell blank: "I wonder why she guided us to you."
