you’d think she’d be the only one waddling through the wasteland. nope, someone else was suffering just as much as her. max stopped in her tracks, squinting at the dirty gray form. she trudged a little closer to get a better look.

max? she stopped again and tilted her head. who was this stranger? “how do you-?” wait a minute... this girl wasn’t a stranger. no fucking way.

“saarth!” a wave of happiness and relief washed over her. after all those months of searching she assumed the worse. long gone, or dead. but she was here, unscarred and safe. and that was way more than she can say for others that had disappeared.

she galloped through the mud to close the distance between them. “you asshole!” there was no malice in her cry, just a relieved teasing tone. she embraced her, making them dirtier than they already were.
