As far as Larus was concerned, Maera had woken on her own volition and chose to wake him as well. He wasn't angry - he was still too young to distinguish any real emotion - but he did want sleep, and like any baby Larus was going to cry until he got what he wanted. Maera did not waste time. She turned her attention towards her younger brother and shouted a long noise in to his face. His response was automatic: "RAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaAAAAaa!" He tried to growl and roar right back at her, with his voice raising in pitch and volume as the sound progressed. As soon as he issued this great pronouncement he was out of air, and thus he sank against the floor of the den with a gasp.
