Greatwater Lake together again

She was hungry, and the nearby lake stood out like a beacon. Camping out by bodies of water had saved her from a hungry belly times before, so she decided to stick with the precedent. Since early morning she had been hidden amongst the undergrowth near the eastern side of the lake, gray eyes keen for any movement near the movement near the banks. Now, anything like deer or elk was far beyond her ability to bring down alone, but anything smaller—hares, beavers, anything like that—wouldn’t be as much of a struggle.

Some time after she had settled down to watch, she did see something, but it ended up being more of a someone. Another wolf, male, assumedly around her own age; he was—well, what was he doing? At first it seemed he had been trying to dig into the silt of the lake’s floor, but now he was dashing through the water. Such unrestrained joy she had not really seen in another wolf since the days of her childhood. It was somewhat entrancing; she stood and left her place of hiding, approaching the bank and the other wolf. “What are you doing?” she asked, very nearly without noticing. Her head tilted slightly to one side, matte gray eyes confused.
