He'd gone out in to the water again, soaking in a shallow section while the tide was coming in, and when he sought out the shore Firefly felt heavy and tired, but better. It was good to have the brine scent back; he hadn't realized how desperate he had been for it, or the familiarity of the seaside. The expanse he had conquered was different from Rusalka too — a larger territory with a dense forest and more to investigate, more to protect. He knew he had to get back to work removing the ex-leader's scent from the borderlands but he was lured to a patch of dry stone a short climb along the ridge. It was hot to the touch, which he promptly sprawled across. While the spring light warmed his dark coat and dried him, Firefly could peer over the edge at the rough waters — and after a thought, turned to glance east, as if he would be able to spy upon Rusalka despite the immense distance. His heart felt heavy at that thought, so he turned back to the sea instead.
