Elwood was thrilled to know that Liffey and Rannoch literally lived a stone's throw away now. Not only could he visit with his daughter and son-in-law, but he would also be able to see his grandchildren more frequently. So of course, when Finley and Liffey showed up and invited him to take a trip to the glade, he accepted without a moment's hesitation.
The journey was short, and he was thankful for that when he saw the difficulty Fin was having with her hip. Despite that, though, she was still cheerful and boisterous when they arrived, and her excitement was contagious. Liffey called out for her family, only to be teased by Finley -- who then offered Elwood up as a target for the kiddos. He rolled his eyes at her, but grinned and drew himself up to his full height (which still didn't quite match Rannoch's).
With hackles bristled in playful preparation, he waited to see if the children would take their grandmother's bait.
