Maybe this Ellie was just a strange individual. In any event, her laughter died down rather quickly. She seemed normal enough and proved to be at least capable of conversation.

"Probably a good idea," he concurred. He couldn't imagine many compelling reasons to enter the hot springs, at least at this time of year. The warm water could be a nice respite in the wintertime, if one didn't mind smelling like rotten eggs for three days afterward.

Her comment on the water didn't require a response, so instead Peregrine tried to make conversation as he too enjoyed the refreshing dip. "Where are you from, Ellie? I'm from the plateau." He flicked his black muzzle in its direction, then looked back to her.
