Ellie's answer didn't surprise him, simply because he'd found her alone and it wasn't an unreasonable assumption that she was, therefore, a lone wolf. He didn't answer her question right away, instead eyeballing her a moment. So far, she'd proven to be a little strange and Peregrine was in no way desperate for new recruits. In fact, despite all the drama of late, the plateau was ballin' outta control doing very well for itself. It didn't need any more bodies and those wanting in would be thoroughly vetted accordingly.
