Fate had taken him further and further until at last, he gave up the chase for retribution. It did not feel right to let his anger fade, but there was no controlling it. Like a fire which had burned through all of its fuel, Asa's anger stagnated and faded until he was a bitter husk of a man with no direction. So he did what came naturally: he turned around. His path took him back to the start again, and when the familiar rise of mountains and the tell-tale scent of the swamp hit him, he knew he recognized where he'd ended up.
It helped when he spotted the firebrand boy, too. The same boy who had escorted him the first go-around; this time he was larger, having matured in to his body somewhat in the months since Asa's visit, and he seemed involved in tracking something. Aye! Boy!Unfortunately, Asa had forgotten his name.
