why had his mother abandoned him? famine had been too young to remember anything about her. she meant nothing to him and was hardly ever thought about, unless mentioned by someone else. why did valium have to bring her up?

famine trudged through the territory, unhappy with their recent encounter. he searched every corner of his mind to find something he might have used to his defense, but there was nothing. valium was right; aside from serem, he didn't have any family left.

death was the only sibling he could regularly interact with, but he never seemed interested. pestilence was too quiet and conquest was missing, which left famine all alone. he didn't have a mother or a father, and though he had several friends, none of them cared the way that the other moms cared about their babies.

famine didn't belong here anymore. he was too little to imagine running away, but he knew that staying didn't make him feel good. he plopped down inside of his first den for some quiet time, away from everyone else.
