Seaside Moors there, silhouetted under an eastern star

if only solaire knew the heavy thoughts that plagued maman. if only she could comfort her with words. still she was too young to understand any of it, only interested in the things that appeared before her eyes, like the odd little object that erzulie had set down. solaire sniffed at it

she licked her lips slightly, leaning towards it and suddenly remembering the presence of erzulie. each day she gained more confidence, but was well-behaved- and so turned to her mother with wide blue eyes, a silent question.
