The heat had led the stalwart figure across the surface of the fen and into the shadows of the unfamiliar woodland terrain. The darkness of the forest was appealing to the royal. He regarded the earthly drapery of looming trees with a stern and unreadable expression. The stag stopped at the edge of the trees for only a moment before he stepped into the fold of the wild wood and the cool touch of shade.
 
Once in the forest, Rohan was quick to learn his terrain. His guard was high as he plodded into a small clearing, ears swiveling wildly as his dark eyes searched the unknown shadows. When all was quiet and the scent of the air was filled only with the aroma of earthen greenery, Rohan plucked at the stems at the earth and filled himself to a state of swollen contentment.
