The elder brother’s growl was met with one in return—Altair wanted to make sure he would be keen to keep his word—and only then through the motions did he feel his grip relent. It was a frustrating thing but not at all surprising; this was hardly the first or last time they would tousle in fun, and for now Atlas greatly outmatched him. Every day was a learning experience, and from this he would learn too.

His jaw failed to keep a hold then, leaving the boy with nothing more than a mouthful of dark tufts and scraggly strands that he fought to cast away. “I’m not that far away,” he explained, casting a dark look over a darkening shoulder. No one else coming up to find him. Yet. His gaze rounded back to Atlas then, pointed and unable to contain a bright glint of confidence.

“I’m with you now so it’s okay.” A loose hair whisked off his lip with a breath.

"Can we go huntin'?"
