Turn, pause, lock on new target. From a pup's perspective her return to attack was probably quite fluid and acrobatic, but of course, they were kids. So while her mother was turned away, she zoomed back over with a specific thing in mind -- biting her tail. Why? Dunno. It moved. Something that moved and drew her attention and suddenly seemed super awesome. So run, leap, chomp! Honestly, no plan beyond that, mostly because running over and biting a tail usually meant you became the center of attention. Maybe that was the plan all along! Nah, that'd be too much thought.
