A frown darkened his features as he watched her, not quite believing her story. Bazi might have been gentler than Fox, but if she had little tolerance of something, she usually spoke her mind. Given that Shadow’s scent clung to her, he could still feel the doubt lingering.

“Who do I need to be worried about, then?” It was hard to keep his tone neutral – as if he was just casually asking. He knew his sister could see right through him, and had it been anyone else, he would have been uncomfortable with the vulnerability. But it was Kaskara.. and more importantly, it was Bazi.
