Dawnlark Plains Retiring in Florida

From afar, the creature might have passed as a bear. His head was low, thick earthen ruff shielding his features as he took in the scents trailing the plains. A tail emerged from the mass of wild dark fur, and the creature took a step forward with a gait far too smooth and skulking for any bear. No, it was a lone wolf who prowled the plains.
Heat-scent had woven itself over the land. Lazarus knew this place would be fruitful. A sharp puff of air escaped his nostrils, and he lifted his head. The proud wolf howled, a clear message in his words. He traveled in search of a mate; a strong woman to bear strong children, and claim a home alongside him.
