she moved north, in the shadow of the mountain. though some of its spires could boast of their height, it was truly impressive in the amount of land it spanned wide across. it drew forth memories of the desolate gray slab she had spent nearly all her days.
ingrid longed for it and despised it at the same time. as she grew more distant from her time there and mourned for those she had watched over, she had come upon the realization that she had wasted her entire life.
a mate who did not love her, and she did not love in turn. children who would not visit. though she was not the kind of woman who could lose herself to daydreams, she entertained them now. would life have been different, if she had spent it here?
this line of thinking would do her no good. she paused to scrunch her face and shook her head to rid herself of those thoughts before she continued across the plain.
