That same, sickly scent flooded within pruned nostrils as Aquene was held by his grip. Virion held on as thought she were some chew toy; his head tossing her back and forth in playful manner.

The stranger that had joined the scuffle made aim, but failed, springing backward to prevent physical damage by her own accord. From the peripheral, the beast could then see her circle and move for another position. Snarling beneath the grip of his betrothed, Virion danced sideways, shielding his rear. Unfortunately, halfway along, his dance was stopped by a third frame. Another stranger had joined... no, two; each aimed for him.

Teeth grappled upon his neck. Heavy blows plowed against his ribcage harshly. Then a piercing within his tail. 

On any normal occasion, a battle like this would send a crude thrill within. But not this time. He was alone and there were too many opposing. Without an able moment, he could not call for an ally's aide. The only option to avoid death was to flee.

Tripping over his own paws intentionally, Virion pressed his weight against the large man at his flank. The objective was to send both sprawling aside and each other with a grip upon him to lose their balance. Aquene was released while feet scrambled to find the touch of the earth. If all were subdued for a spare moment at best, the man would flee.
